'Turn Me Off!' is a European Citizen's Initiative to prohibit empty offices and shops from leaving their lights switched on
Why?
Through this initiative, we seek to:
*Save energy
*Limit light pollution
*Stop invasive advertising
across the whole of the EU.
Switching the light off when you're not there is common sense.
And yet too many shops and offices have their lights on at night or on weekends when they are unoccupied. We would like this to stop.
We're not trying to make our streets completely dark. We do believe in street lighting because it has a purpose - it keeps us safe. We simply want lighting that doesn't have one to disappear.
What is a European Citizen's Initiative?
It is a way for EU citizens to suggest a new legislation to the European Commission where it has competences. It gives us, the citizens, the possibility to voice our ideas and concerns to move towards concrete change.
For this initiative to be considered by the Commission, we need your help: one million signatures from at least 7 EU countries collected in one year.
So please sign our initiative!
